Community Education
Community Education aims to build the capacity of local communities through education. We offer an accessible safe and welcoming learning setting. Many learners may have had no education experience since school and we offer a positive and supportive environment. Community education can be the first point of re-entry into education, with participants own life experience being the grounds for learning. The training is designed around the needs of the participants. It is about overcoming the fears associated with training and concentrates on building the participants confidence and self esteem. The ethos of education and training at Hospital Family Resource Centre is that it is learner centered in an inclusive environment which is fun for all who participate.
Life-Long Learning
Many of our students enroll for a course in order to get started and once they have learned their required skills they become independent. Many others progress to higher levels of courses here in the centre or move to other areas of interest. For others the experience gained in our centre opens the door to educational opportunities, as well as volunteering and employment. Here in Hospital Family Resource Centre we support students on to their next level, wherever that may take them.
Blended Learning
In line with COVID restrictions Hospital FRC in conjunction with Limerick and Clare Education Training Board introduced a number of on-line and blended learning classes. Many accredited classes went on line and we also offered Family Cookery and Mindfulness on-line. This learning format has continued where appropriate in light of government guidance and student’s needs.
